Step 2: Shutdown

Shut system down following the equipment-specific procedures. Shutdown should ensure that controls are in the off position and verify that all moving parts (e.g. flywheels, gears, spindles) have come to a complete stop. If the system is operating it should be shut down in its normal manner. Use manufacturer instructions or in-house work instructions. Always follow shutdown steps in the correct order to ensure no new hazards are created.
