What does an in-line pneumatic lockout valve do?

Some pneumatic valves have lockout devices built into them. The valves are designed to: a) isolate pneumatic energy from other parts of the system; b) quickly dissipate stored energy with a vent; c) easily lockout with a padlock.

Modular pneumatic lockout valve. This 3-way function valve can be padlocked in the closed (vented) position only. Install in the pressure inlet of pneumatic devices.

Pneumatic lockout valve. This valve is designed to stop the flow of compressed air and vent the lines quickly in case an emergency shut-down is required. For faster venting, the exhaust port is larger than the inlet/outlets ports.
